CSR: health and safety
The firm's health and safety policy statement, signed by the Senior Partner, underlines our commitment to provide a safe and healthy working environment and to encourage our people to adopt a common sense approach towards risks and hazards in the workplace.
Staff involvement/Co-operation
We actively involve our staff in health and safety matters. Our UK offices have over 120 volunteers for health and safety matters such as fire marshals and first aiders.
The team
The firm directly employs two health and safety specialists to manage the function worldwide. In addition, our London office resources include an Occupational Health Advisor, Practice Nurse and physiotherapist. A telephone advice service is available to non-London offices, including overseas.
Training
Training sessions are arranged on a regular basis in all key health and safety topics (including first aid, fire prevention, manual handling).
Working environment
Independent consultants are employed to monitor the air and water quality in the building and ensure processes are maintained for the control of legionella bacteria.
We have undertaken an audit to ensure our UK buildings are easily accessible by disabled or mobility impaired staff or visitors. This audit was carried out by an independent assessor and all recommendations have been acted on.
Accidents
All accidents are investigated with the intention to prevent re-occurrence and not to apportion blame. Staff are encouraged to report all incidences, no matter how trivial.
Health and wellbeing
Good health and lifestyle initiatives include:
- On-site occupational health provision and physiotherapy
- Regular health promotions such as: assistance in giving up smoking, men's health topics, cholesterol screening
- Private medical insurance, well person screening and health assessments
