“I can honestly say I learned huge amounts during my two years as a trainee. The training we were given was extensive, well structured and covered a very broad range of areas. For me, the most valuable aspect was the way our trainers drew on their own experience, putting the law into a commercial context. It really brought what we were learning to life.
Apart from the legal instruction specific to our seats, we were encouraged to attend courses that taught us practical skills. For example, two I attended were on effective writing and speed reading. We were also given one-to-one training by our seat supervisor who was always there to help answer any questions we had. Now that I’ve qualified, there’s a whole range of new courses I’m encouraged to go on, such as managing your workload and the art of delegation.”
