Developing our people is at the heart of what we do

Elaine Bolwell
Elaine has been with the firm for nearly nine years and is a secretary in Banking and International Finance. She was one of the first people to take the Microsoft Superuser training which the firm introduced in 2002.
“I took Superuser training for Word. It’s an online course that I did at my own pace. Basically, it takes you stage by stage through each section and, at the end of each one, you are given a test to prove to yourself that you can do it on your own.
The firm allocated me a certain amount of time to complete the course over a period of about three months. I tended to do each session in my lunch hour – usually in a separate training room where I could have some peace and quiet.
Once I’d gained my Superuser certificate I had a far greater understanding of what Word could do. Because the course was over a three month period, it gave me much more of an in-depth knowledge than a normal training course. I’ve certainly gained a lot more confidence when it comes to using Word and it means I’m never afraid to try out new things.”
