Reform of Corporation Tax: the impact on leasing The Inland Revenue is proposing to reform the tax treatment of finance leasing. The proposals in their current form appear to put in doubt the future of big-ticket leasing. If a lease functions as a financing transaction it would be taxed in a similar way to a loan, putting an end to the ability of banks and financial institutions to purchase an asset, claim the capital allowances then lease it to an end user. The government is inviting comments on the impact of the proposals on certain sectors. Read more... |
