Accessing PDF’s

If you are having problems with any of our PDF files, then you may find the following guidelines useful. If after going through the guidelines you find that you are still having difficulties then please contact the Law-Now Administrator at:
Law-Now.Administrator@cms-cmck.com or on 020 7367 2106.

Are you logged in?

You will need to ensure that you are logged into the Law-Now website prior to opening a PDF link, otherwise you will not be able to access the link.

To log on to the site go to: www.law-now.com. On entering the site, you will see the Law-Now login prompt on the right. If you are logged in, the Law-Now homepage will look like this:

If you are logged in to Law-Now then check for other possible solutions detailed below.

If you are not logged into Law-Now, the blue box will look like this:

If you need to log in, you will have to do this before trying to access a PDF.

To log in you will need to enter your username and password in the spaces provided in the blue box. If you have forgotten these, click on the ‘login details forgotten’ link (see screenshot above). Simply enter your email address. You will then receive an automated email confirming your username and password for Law-Now.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat on your PC?

If No...

If you are unable to open the pdf link, from either the link in a Law-Now email or from the link on the Law-Now website, then you need to check whether you have ‘Adobe Acrobat’ installed on your PC. All our PDF files are created for ‘Adobe Acrobat’ version 3.0 and above.

If you would like to install Adobe Acrobat Reader then it is possible to download it for free from the Adobe website at: www.adobe.co.uk. However we recommend that you contact your I.T department before downloading/installing anything on your PC.

If you already have Adobe Acrobat installed on your PC and the link is still not working, then you could try launching Adobe Acrobat from your ‘Start’ menu, and then try the link again. If this fails too then we would advise that you contact your I.T department to see if they are able to assist.

Printing PDF Content

When opening a PDF you will find that it opens up within the Internet browser, which means that it is in a secondary window to the Internet itself.

You will need to make sure that you select “print” from inside the pdf and not “print” from the Internet browser (see screenshot below).

Try saving the PDF on to your PC.

If you find that the above is not working, then you could try to save the PDF to your own file system.

To do this you must save the PDF from the PDF toolbar (see above screenshot) and not from the Internet Explorer toolbar. When you click on the save icon, it will prompt you with a ‘save as’ box. From here you need to ensure that it is being saved as a .pdf file and to then save it into your ‘My Documents’ folder or your ‘Desktop’.

Once you have done this you can close your Internet browser. Then find the saved file and open it. It will then open uniquely into acrobat and you can then go to file and print.
