Regulatory zone - Securities and derivatives

Law-Now
01.11.2011

A raft of legislative measures being developed at international, EU and domestic level will transform regulation of securities and derivatives markets. There are a number of drivers for this transformation process and a disparate set of issues being discussed. Some measures, such as the EU review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), have recently been reviewed.  In other areas, such as OTC derivatives, the financial crisis raised significant concern about the hitherto scant regulation of this potentially risky market.

MAD and MiFID

The European Commission published on 20 October 2011 its legislative proposals relating to its review of both MiFID and the Market Abuse Directive (MAD). We have produced a brief analysis on each of the revised Directives, summarising the major new issues and the potential impact they will have.
