Breaking News: Coalition appears to have dropped Tory plans to scrap the FSA

One up-side of the election result is that it may have provided a fig leaf for the Tories to drop their highly unpopular plan to scrap the FSA. Banks and Insurers will be relieved by the terms of the coalition agreement published this afternoon which suggests that the extension of the Bank of England's powers will not now include the financial supervision of individual firms.
