Welcome to the February issue of the Tracker, guiding you through the progress of bills in the UK Parliament.
 
The Parliamentary machine is moving swiftly: three bills have been granted Royal Assent since the last issue (18 January).  The Fiscal Responsibility Bill and the Terrorist Asset-Freezing (Temporary Provisions) Bill, a curious chapter in legislative history in its own right, were granted Royal Assent on 10 February and the Video Recordings Bill on 21 January.
 
Bills that have made it through the first House and moved into the other, so standing a significant chance of becoming law, are:
 
Government Bills

  • Bribery Bill (note the link to the bulletin on Law-Now, below)
  • Cluster Munitions (Prohibitions) Bill
  • Corporation Tax Bill
  • Equality Bill
  • Financial Services Bill
  • Flood and Water Management Bill
  • Personal Care at Home Bill
  • Taxation (International and Other Provisions) Bill

Private Member's Bills

  • Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies and Credit Unions Bill
  • Contaminated Blood (Support for Infected and Bereaved Persons) Bill
  • Live Music Bill


New Bills

New Bills (all Private Member's Bills) on the table that might affect businesses since the last issue are:

  • Climate Change (Sectoral Targets) Bill
  • Compensation Act 2006 (Amendment) Bill
  • Department for Work and Pensions (Electronic File Retention) Bill
  • Environmental Protection (Fly-tipping Reporting) Bill
  • Health & Safety (Company Director Liability) Bill
  • Water Tariffs Bill
